MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION
My name is Mai Miles Frandsen. I am certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher and a Mental Health Nurse from Denmark.
My mission and passion is to empower people in all walks of life to find inner resources to meet life stress with more ease and wisdom. In MBSR we work with what is right with people. All people have resources for healing and growth.
Even though I am the teacher of the class, participants will soon learn that they within are the most important teachers. Sitting in a group and practice mindfulness meditation and deep listening makes us heal, grow and reduce our stress levels dramatically. I look forward to a shared journey of healing and growth. This journey is about living your truth and being well. I only teach live online.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT MBSR
WHAT IS MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR) ?
8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is a 8 week educational program. Participants meet one time weekly (2,5 hours) and one full silent retreat day (7,5 hours). Participants practice homework daily during the 8 weeks. Homework is mainly practicing meditation to recorded meditations.
The MBSR program is 40 years old this year and is founded by professor in Medicine Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979. The Medical Center has pioneered to integrate mindfulness meditation into mainstream medicine, healthcare, schools, prisons, athletic training programs and in workplaces.
MBSR is a educational and evidence-based program and not an alternative to traditional medicine. MBSR is not therapy either.
IS MBSR FOR ALL PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES?
MBSR is not for all people at all times. MBSR is one out of many ways to learn to stress down. In my classes there are people ranging from 23 to 72 years. There are both man and women. People from all walks of life attend. What they have in common is being curious about boosting their health and wellbeing.
If you suffer from depression, suicidal thoughts or other mental imbalance or physical illness kindly consult with your doctor, therapist or psychiatrist before considering joining the the program. There is a program called MBCT that is for people with depression.
If you recently experienced a major loss please wait and give your self some time before joining this program.
WHAT ARE THE BENIFITS OF MBSR
MBSR is one of the most researched mind-body interventions in the world and has proven to help many stress related imbalances:
better immune system functions
help regulate diabetes
help regulate weight
help dealing with
less emotional reactivity
more effective emotion regulation
more cognitive flexibility
improved working memory
The evidence is very clear: the more the participant practice - the better result
after the 8 weeks and years to come.

WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE MBSR CLASS ROOM?
Listening and being more used to being in silence is one of the pillars in MBSR. Some people like to share more in the class and other people are more private. Both is fine. This program is about honoring who you are. One important thing is that we never give advise. We all have a lot of wisdom if we dare being quiet.
In MBSR we practice:
Standing mindful yoga
WHAT DOES IT COST?
I charge 100 KD for the entire 8 week MBSR program. I give discounts to people who lost their jobs or are in another finacial crises.
MBSR graduates 50KD.
MINDFULNESS IN KUWAIT
A mindfulness journey in the Middle East
It is indeed a radical act of love just to sit down and be quiet for a time by yourself. It is only love that can give us insight into what is real and what is important. And so a radical act of love makes sense — love for life and for the emergence of one’s truest self.
